Ash is a self-taught artist with no formal academic training. In 2010, Ash stepped away from his 15-year professional career in the finance industry to reconnect with himself. He began painting as a form of escape and rehabilitation of his mind. His work was well received in the community and a new career was born. Ash continues to work with clients from across the globe. He experimented on different styles of art until he found comfort in impressionism, utilizing oils and palette knives.
However, to escape from his left brain, he decided to utilize an approach that required him to give up control and to “just let go”. Inspired by Jackson Pollock, Ash places the canvas on the floor and begins to throw and drip paint utilizing sticks, brushes, his hands and anything else he can find. At no time does he touch the canvas or paint on the canvas despite his left brain’s desire to do so. His right brain just wants to throw paint around. His left brain can’t understand or accept chaos. His decision to create images and subject matter utilizing this technique was his compromise within himself. It’s the only way he can find inner peace!
“Each piece is a culmination of days of dripping and throwing layer after layer of paint until my right brain says “I’m at peace” and my left brain says “this piece is done”. It’s the constant battle between my ears…”
